UKAS Accredited ISO Certification

NPT Management Systems now offers a one-stop shop for businesses seeking UKAS-accredited ISO certification.

Historically, ISO consultants have only provided a consulting service, leaving clients to find a third-party certified body (such as BSI, LRQA, SGS, et cetera) on their own. This approach can often be time-consuming and confusing for business owners.

We at NPT can now help you to implement an ISO-compliant management system and have it certified by a UKAS-accredited certification under a single contract. This means that we do all the work for you, giving you more time to concentrate on your business itself.

We have helped many companies in places like Portsmouth, Southampton, Bournemouth and Basingstoke to achieve ISO certification (sometimes known as ISO accreditation). Look at our customer reviews to find out more about our services and why we're so highly recommended throughout the South of England.

Team Concise was launched in August 2006, and aims to give young British sailors a future in competitive offshore racing. One of their more capable trimarans, Concise 10, has full ocean racing capabilities and can reach speeds of up to 40 knots - truly a force to be reckoned with!

When Team Concise needed help obtaining MCA codification for Concise 10, they turned to NPT Management Systems for help. Here's Team Concise Shore Manager Will Smeken to tell the rest of the story:

"We were initially concerned about whether anyone would have the necessary skills, training and experience to conduct risk assessments for a full ocean racing yacht like Concise 10. When we heard about NPT's extensive experience in the marine industry, we knew that they were our 'go to' guys and felt positive that they would be able to help.

"NPT made the process of conducting and completing the risk assessments to the MCA's requirements completely painless."

NPT Management Systems are experienced in working in the marine industry, and we actively support youth sailing in the UK - our recent sponsorship of the Hamble River Sailing Club is a great example. We help marine industry companies right across Britain's southern coast in a variety of different ways; from health and safety risk assessments to full ISO certifcation, we do it all!

Over the last 3 months, we at NPT Management Systems have been helping Southern Coating Contractors to implement a tailor-made quality management system that meets the stringent requirements of both ISO 9001 and the National Highways Sector Scheme 19A.

This week, we are pleased to announce that SCC have been recommended for ISO 9001 and National Highways Sector Scheme 19A Certification by a UKAS-accredited certification body, with zero non-conformances. This superb outcome is the result of an extremely tough multi-site audit: 4 days of certification body auditing with 3 different skilled auditors involved.

Here's what Tony Frost, Managing Director of Southern Coating Contractors, had to say after receiving the good news:

"We were recommended to contact Neil Peattie from NPT Management Systems to help with our needs for ISO 9001 and HSS19A Certification. Neil's ability to work with the team and to implement a system that we can all use is first-class. We now have a great system that will help to grow the business. I would recommend Neil Peattie as an ISO 9001 consultant."

What are National Highways Sector Schemes?

National Highways Sector Schemes (NHSS) are bespoke quality management systems for organisations that work on the UK road network. NHSS19A focuses on the use of industrial coatings to protect ferrous metals from corrosion. The standard was developed in conjunction with all parts of the highways industry and the United Kingdom Accreditation Service.

When a business achieves NHSS 19A certification, it assures clients that standards are being consistently applied. If you would like to learn more about the National Highways Sector Schemes or ISO 9001 certification, please contact NPT Management Systems today - we can help you to meet these standards and get certified first time.

We are sponsoring the beach volleyball event at this year's River Hamble Games! The event will take place on Saturday the 18th of June - click here to find out more and sign up for an event!

Located on the south coast and operating in the marine sector, NPT Management Systems are always delighted to give something back to the community, by showing their support for local clubs and events. Recently, we were delighted to become a sponsor for Junior Sailing at the Hamble River Sailing Club, by supplying their helpers and instructors with a selection of Hi Visibility Jackets. Thanks to the bright colours and luminous strips adorning the jackets, this simple use of visual management will help children and parents to identify who to turn to when help is needed, allowing them to take action quickly and efficiently.

While we are fortunate to have offered our professional services to a multitude of businesses and organisations in the South of England over the years, it remains important for us to offer our continued assistance to local organisations on a non-profit basis. Thanks to the practical addition of their new hi vis jackets, the Youth Sailing team will be able to demonstrate and uphold a high level of health and safety for years to come, while also providing parents with further peace of mind regarding the well-being of their children.

"Our sponsorship of local events and clubs such as the Hamble River Games and Hamble River Sailing Club, is a real sign of our passion for supporting the marine sector as a whole, and not just for business. As the owner of a local business which helps companies to achieve ISO certification, and a parent to children who sail on the River Hamble, it was important for me to show my support to the club in a way which will provide a useful and lasting solution to their members."

- Managing Director, Neil Peattie

Since donating the hi vis jackets to the sailing club, we are pleased to report that the team are already making good use of their new safety garments. As well as providing an efficient means of upholding health and safety standards, the jackets also help to brighten up the club's activities, particularly on grey, overcast days like the one photographed above!

If you are a local company that requires support with ISO certification or ISO consultancy, NPT Management can provide you with everything you need to implement a range of quality management systems, and become an ISO certified business. ISO are currently in the process of drafting a new addition to their family of international standards. ISO 45001 (due to be published in late 2016) will set the bar for occupational health and safety management systems worldwide, thereby helping organisations to ensure the continued health and safety of all of their employees.

Wait, isn't there already an ISO standard that covers health and safety?

You're probably thinking of OHSAS 18001, a British standard that is applied internationally as a benchmark for health and safety management systems.

Though this standard is frequently called ISO 18001, it is actually not an official ISO standard; that being said, OHSAS 18001 has reportedly served as a key source of inspiration for the new ISO 45001 standard, and many elements of the latter will bear a close resemblance to the requirements set out by the former.

If you are thinking of implementing a health and safety management system (HSMS) throughout your business in the near future, both ISO 18001 and ISO 45001 will be good standards to work towards. Even if you have already achieved OHSAS 18001 certification, you may decide that you would benefit from getting your organisation's HSMS re-certified in accordance with the new standard once it has been published. ISO have promised a more 'context'-focused set of requirements, and besides, if you're already using other ISO standards like ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, it makes sense to stay within the ISO family in this area too.
